GREENFIELD , NH Vocational trainer Denise Lefebvre of Deerfield, NH, was recognized this fall by Exceptional Parent magazine as one of their "2006 Models of Excellence" for her dedication to students with multiple disabilities at Crotched Mountain School. In his letter of nomination, principal Archie Campbell remarked, "Denise has been bringing out the best in our students since 1993. As a vocational trainer, she helps students with multiple disabilities explore interests, develop skills, and participate in on-the-job training. Her involvement is integral to the successful transition of our students to adult life. She is an outstanding role model and a skilled listener. Her enthusiasm is contagious - she energizes her co-workers as well as her students."
This honor came as a very pleasant surprise to Lefebvre, who was quick to express appreciation for her students: "Each day I strive to empower them and, by doing so, I support their vocational, educational and inter-personal experiences." Likewise, she acknowledged her colleagues and co-workers throughout the organization: "I am humbly one tree in the Crotched Mountain forest. I thank everyone for their kind words."
