PORTLAND, ME On the heels of United Way of Greater Portland's 17th Annual Day of Caring, Crotched Mountain Foundation is proud to announce that it has received a significant grant from Home Depot for future Day of Caring Projects.
The grant is targeted toward Crotched Mountain's Forest Avenue Apartment Complex in Portland, ME, a 16-unit complex designed by Crotched Mountain for adults with a permanent disability who meet income eligibility requirements.
"Our tenants thank all the volunteers who joined us on May 22nd for the United Way of Greater Portland's 17th annual Day of Caring," said Peter Abate, property manager of the Forest Avenue Apartments for Crotched Mountain. "We look forward to future projects that this grant will enable us to undertake."
The Home Depot grant allocates $4,798 for future Day of Caring projects. In addition to the grant, the Forest Avenue Apartment Complex received about $1,500 in donations from area companies and individuals. Over 30 volunteers including employees from Home Depot and other local businesses rejuvenated the grounds of the Forest Avenue Apartments on the most recent Day of Caring.

"We are committed to giving back in the communities where our associates live and work and we are thrilled to partner with Crotched Mountain Foundation and the Forest Avenue Apartment Complex on this project."
Built in 1995, Forest Avenue Apartments is one of four wheelchair-accessible apartment complexes for people with disabilities or seniors owned and managed by Crotched Mountain Residential Services, a charitable organization based in Greenfield, NH. Crotched Mountain also manages under contract edgewood Apartments, a 15 unit accessible apartment complex in Kennebunk, ME.
