Golf tournament winners Russ Downing, Joe Torro, Ray Capone, and Kaytie Torro

GOFFSTOWN, NH - One hundred forty-four golfers enjoyed a perfect July day at Stonebridge Country Club in Goffstown on Monday, July 24, 2006 at the Crotched Mountain Golf Classic. The annual golf outing raised more than $30,000 in support of Crotched Mountain School which enrolls128 students with multiple disabilities in Greenfield, NH.
Hosted by the parents of current and former Crotched Mountain School students, this fifth annual charity tournament was chaired by David Barnes of Temple, NH and Tom Gaul of Amherst, NH. "We are thrilled to see so many new and returning families playing in our annual event," said Don Shumway, president and CEO of Crotched Mountain in his opening remarks to the golfers.
Winners of the tournament were Joe Torro, Ray Capone and Russ Downing of Hopkinton, NH, representing Milton CAT Power Systems. First place in the mixed division was the team of Liz Sampo, Lisa Ryan, Phil Stockton and Jim Scammon of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Winners of the closest to the pin contest were Laura Burke and Jonathan Bates; longest drive honors went to Alice Fuld and Brian McPherson.
At the reception following the tournament, participants enjoyed a barbecue buffet, raffle and auction. Parent Barry Metayer shared his family's experiences at the recent Special Olympics in Ames, Iowa, and his delight with his son's accomplishments at Crotched Mountain School. "All of the people on my son's team are his friends," he emphasized.
