Staff Profiles: Occupational Therapy 

RHANDA BARKLEY, MS, OTR/L CBIS – is a staff therapist for the Specialty Hospital and has been employed by Crotched Mountain for the past 16 years. Rhonda received her B.S. in Rehabilitation Services in 1982 from Syracuse University and her M.S. in Occupational Therapy in 1988 from Boston University. She specializes in neuro-rehabilitation. She is certified in Interactive Metronome and in the Saebo arm training program. She has practiced craniosacral therapy since 2000. Rhonda is currently a teaching assistant for entry level classes and assisted in the development of our inpatient Cognitive Rehabilitation program. She is the chairperson for the Cognitive Rehabilitation Across the Spectrum conference, co-sponsored by Crotched Mountain and the Society for Cognitive Rehabilitation.

DENNIS GREEN, MS, OTR/L, CBIS is an occupational therapist who joined Crotched Mountain in 1998. Working in the Brain Injury Center, he evaluates the whole person (physical, psychological, emotional, and social) and then use a variety of activities, exercises, compensatory methods, and environmental modifications to move each client toward improved performance in many activities of daily living. He received a Master of Science in Occupational therapy from Tufts University in 1996, and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Potsdam College (State University of NY) where he majored in Physics. He has a background in stress management, and co-started and built a woodshop for use by BIC clients.

DAVID KONTAK, MA, MS. OTR/L is the Director of Assistive Technology Services. David has devoted many years to the study and practice of Occupational Therapy and technology. He is noted for his experience in direct client assessment and support in the areas of augmentative communication, computer access, adapted arts, mobility and vocational/educational support. He is a licensed Occupational Therapist who also has a Master's degree in Fine Arts. David was an assistant professor of Art at Kent State University from 1985 to 1992. He taught courses in assistive technology at Colorado State University and the University of Colorado/Denver.

LINDA MURPHY, OTR/L is the Director of Rehabilitation Services. She is an Occupational Therapist who joined the Crotched Mountain staff in the summer of 1994. She graduated with a BS in Occupational Therapy from Kean State College in NJ in 1980. She brings many years of experience in acute pediatric rehab, SI training, geriatric rehab, Home Health care, Cognitive Rehabilitation and has been a clinical instructor for affiliating OT students since 1983.

LAUREN A. SMITH, OTR/L CBIS is an Occupational Therapist who joined the Crotched Mountain staff in the summer of 2006. She graduated with a BS in Occupational Therapy from Quinnipiac University in 2001. She brings over seven years of experience with her in acute rehab and acute care. She is certified in interactive metronome, therapeutic modalities, and is a certified brain injury specialist. She enjoys working with survivors of brain injury and helping them maximize their functional independence.

JEFF TURK, COTA joined Crotched Mountain as a certified occupational therapy assistant in 2001. After receiving his associate's degree in Science/Occupational Therapy from New Hampshire Community Technical College, he received his bachelor's degree in Human Services from Franklin Pierce College.
