Frequently Asked Questions

Is the local community welcome to visit the Media Center?

Absolutely!  If you're waiting for swimming lessons to end, we do ask that all visitors wear shoes and dry clothes.  Also, please do not leave children unsupervised.

Can I borrow materials from the Media Center?

No, we are not a lending library.  If you are a resident of Greenfield, NH, we encourage you to obtain a card from the Stephenson Memorial Library (603-547-2790), located at 761 Forest Road.

May we bring snacks to the Friday Night Movies?

Food and beverages are not allowed in the Library and Media Center nor in the Presentation Room.  We appreciate your cooperation.

Are the computers available for community use?

Since these machines are specially adapted for people with disabilities, we limit their use to our students and inpatients, their families, and staff.

How can I learn more about the different types of adaptive equipment here in the Media Center?

Our assistive technology staff would be happy to help you (603-547-3311, ext. 537).

Our family hasn't had much experience interacting with people with disabilities. Any advice?

As expressed in our mission statement, "Crotched Mountain is dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities and their families, embracing personal choice and development, and building communities of mutual support."  Our staff is available to answer any questions you may have.  If you're interested in learning more, please inquire about signing up for one of our "Experiencing Disability" classes that we offer periodically.

Where can I obtain more disability information?

In addition to the holdings here at the Media Center, Crotched Mountain has other special collections elsewhere on campus, specializing in disability information for medical professionals, educators, historians and families.  Our library staff would be happy to assist you.  Links to a variety of disability resources may be found in the "Information" section of our web site.

Any other general guidelines when visiting the Media Center?

Like all libraries, please do not run, roughhouse, or move the furniture.  Also, we ask that you remember we close at 8:00 pm.
