Archie Stewart teaches students how to fly a kite. | |
GREENFIELD, NH On Sunday Jan. 29, Crotched Mountain was the host to an exhilerating exhibition of kite making and kite flying. Indoors. No kidding. Led by master kite educators, fabricators and fliers, Archie Stewart and Glenn Davison, more than 50 Crotched Mountain students, hospital patients and staff spent an enjoyable day learning how to make kites and then flying them indoors, using their own momentum to create the needed wind. Everyone who participated had a wonderful time, made new friends and can't wait for the next time Archie and Glenn visit. Archie left everyone smiling with his motto. "If the wind is in your face, you're in the wrong place." A few Sundays ago, Crotched Mountain's Carter Hall was the right place for sure.
Special News Flash: Archie, Glenn and other kite enthusiasts will return on September 9 when Crotched Mountain will be host to an outdoor kite making and flying event --Kites Over Crotched Mountain-- that will attract people from all over the Monadnock region and southern New Hampshire. Crotched Mountain is partnering with the Sharon Arts Center and School for this event. More news will be issued as plans are finalized.
