PETERBOROUGH, NH - Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center is pleased to announce the grand opening its new Audiology Services facility at Monadnock Community Hospital on Friday, April 4th.

"At Monadnock Community Hospital we are proud of our patient-focused services that meet the health care needs of our area. We are pleased that Audiology Services will continue to be offered at The Bond Wellness Center through Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center and its talented audiology staff," states Sarah Taylor. V.P., Physician Services.

Crotched Mountain has provided complete hearing aid services – evaluation, fitting, counseling, instruction and repairs – for inpatients at its hospital and school and outpatients of all ages at since 1963 at the Outpatient Clinic at the Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield where audiology services will continue to be offered. "Now patients will have a choice of location, whichever is most convenient to them, with our same wonderful staff, Noelle Paradis and Margaret Glover," explained Kathy Thonis, Director of Clinical Services at Crotched Mountain.

Both Paradis and Glover are certified audiologists with many years of experience. Noelle Paradis, AuD, FAAA, earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Rhode Island, and her clinical doctoral degree in Audiology from A.T. Still University of Mesa, AZ. She is the current president of the New Hampshire Academy of Audiology (NHAA) and lives in Bennington. Margaret Glover, MA, CCC-A, FAAA holds a master's degree in Audiology from the University of Denver and is a past president of NHAA. The two professionals are members of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and are Fellows of the American Academy of Audiology.

At both service locations, Crotched Mountain audiologists conduct hearing evaluations in a soundproof booth to determine the hearing status of the patient and the extent of any problem. Based on the results of this evaluation, recommendations are made about the choices available for improved hearing and communication. Additionally, Crotched Mountain also dispenses, modifies, and repairs a variety of hearing-related products including: all major brands of digital hearing aids in a range of sizes; batteries and accessories; personal amplifiers; alarm/warning devices; swim plugs; custom earmolds; and hearing protection devices. The staff are especially excited by new digital hearing aids which can work in tandem with cell phones and other electronic devices like iPods.

"All too often, people take their hearing for granted," remarks Ms. Glover. "A loss is usually so gradual that it takes someone else to bring it to an individual's attention. Most people visit their dentist twice a year and their optometrist every other year, yet how many think to have their hearing checked by an audiologist on a regular basis?" she asks.
