Community Pulls Together To Help Client Through His Journey

SIMSBURY, CT - On February 9, 2007, while driving home from a friends house, Michael Bubnash's car went off the road and hit a telephone pole. A Life Star helicopter took him to Hartford Hospital where he was stabilized. Mike's father Greg created a web page on Facebook to communicate what had happened to Mike's friends. People from Mike's hometown of Simsbury, Conn. began offering their support to the family. From hot meals to financial gifts, to Internet messages, people in the community have shown that they care. Greg and Davi Bubnash are overwhelmed by all that has been done to help them and their son.

When Michael left Hartford Hospital there was no other facility in Connecticut that could provide him with the level of care that he needed. He is now receiving rehabilitation services from the
Crotched Mountain Specialty Hospital. However, travel costs are high and so his family is not able to be together with him.

Again, the community is pulling together to help. On June 15th, Simsbury, Connecticut's Boy Scout Troup No. 175 is turning their annual Adventure Race into a fundraiser for Mike. The race will include running, canoeing, orienteering and fire building. Each scout will be wearing a bracelet with the inscription "Scout Strong Mike Bubnash." The money raised from this event will go towards travel expenses.

Michael Bubnash's family and friends are behind him through every step of his journey towards rehabilitation. We are honored to have the opportunity to help Michael here at Crotched Mountain.
