Crotched MountainFoundation HARRY GREGG FOUNDATION

Overview

HaryAlanGreggThe Harry Gregg Foundation provides financial assistance to improve the lives of people in New Hampshire with physical, intellectual, or emotional disabilities.  It was established in 1989 in memory of Harry Gregg (1883-1972), founder of the Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center.   Since then, the Foundation has made more than 5,000 grants totaling almost $2 million.  Funds may be requested for many purposes including:

  • costs of medical, dental, vision, hearing, or therapy treatments not covered by insurance or other programs
  • special equipment, services or supplies
  • modifications to living area, workplace or vehicle
  • respite services and recreational activities
  • vocational, educational or driver training

HGF Distrubutes Funds To Lakes Region Residents

In April, we received a $10,000 grant from the Samuel P. Pardoe Foundation to assist residents
with disabilities from the Lakes Region. The response to the anouncement was vigorous with funds fully expended by July for such projects as ramps, dental care, recreational activities, home and vehicle modifications and educational opportunities.

Last year, 97 Lakes Region residents received funds through the Harry Gregg Foundation and
the number of applications continues to increase. Just since January, we have provided assistance to 60 Lakes Region residents and we expect that number to double by year's end.

"We are extremely grateful to the Pardoe Foundation for this award as it insures Lakes Region
residents with disabilities continue to receive the assistance they need in an increasingly challenging economic environment." said HGF president Don Shumway.
