Staff Profiles: Speech-Language

Jean Rubé-Rainier, M.Ed., CCC-SLP is very pleased to be working in the Outpatient Clinic. Jean has been working at CMRC for over 20 years primarily at the Crotched Mountain School and has been the Director of the Communication Disorders Department for the last 18 years. In the fall of 2006 she officially stepped down from the director's role and is now working in the clinic providing evaluations and therapy to children and adults. Jean enjoys all aspects of helping people improve their speech, language and communication skills. An area she particularly enjoys is in the field of AAC- Augmentative-Alternative Communication. She enjoys designing communication systems for those who have lost the ability to speak or who cannot communicate verbally.

Jean took a year leave of absence in 1994-1995 to work at the University of Vermont, overseeing a federal funded AAC grant. She supervised 8 graduate students as they conducted AAC evaluations around the state of Vermont. She also taught a graduate level AAC class over interactive TV. Jean received her B.S. in speech pathology-audiology from Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY and her M.Ed., in speech-language pathology from Northeastern University.

Jane St. Onge, BS, MS is a Speech Language Pathologist who attended the University of New Hampshire –Durham where she received a B.A. In Music–Vocal Performance, and a B.S. and M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Jane brings to Crotched Mountain clinical experience from a variety of settings. This experience includes educational evaluations and treatment with Kindergarten through 5th grade students at an elementary school in Bedford, NH. Jane also completed a practicum rotation at Exeter Healthcare Outpatient Rehabilitation Center working with adults with traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain cancer, and voice disorders. This practicum also consisted of a unique relationship between the speech department at Exeter Healthcare and the ENT offices at Exeter Hospital, where she would conduct state of the art stroboscopy voice evaluations. Jane has also completed a practicum rotation at SteppingStones, a community based program for individuals living with Brain Injury. This unique placement integrates therapeutic intervention with community re-entry programming such as computer skills classes, public speaking workshops, cultural workshops, and exercise programs. Jane's primary interests in the field of speech-language pathology are technology use, traumatic brain injury, motor speech disorders and voice disorders.
