How You Can Help

Volunteer Services

Crotched Mountain > Information > How You Can Help > VOLUNTEER SERVICES

Volunteers contribute unique talents to the Crotched Mountain community. We welcome volunteers who can contribute one hour a month to as much as thirty hours a week; from one week a year to every week for many years.  Volunteers include individuals and groups, such as those who come here through Alternative College Break programs. Twenty five Alternative Spring Break students spent a week here in 2008. These energetic groups were from Western Michigan and Illinois. They volunteered a total of 5000 hours during ten days!

Since first opening its doors in 1953, volunteers have exemplified the spirit of Crotched Mountain. We invite you to come visit us for a campus tour. There is lots going on and there is a lot you can do to contribute to what makes this a truly unique and progressive organization.

Read what Joyce had to say in a her blog after her recent Alternative Break experience here at Crotched Mountain.

Want to Volunteer with Children?

You are invited to volunteer with the children in Hayden Hospital after school and during the weekends.

Transport the children back from school or to evening activities – starting at 2:45 pm. Accompany our children from the School to Hayden through the Jenks Link with the spectacular views of the campus. This is a good time to share news of their day as they return to Hayden for afternoon/evening activities. There are many activities taking place here at Crotched Mountain and our volunteers bring everything together by accompanying students to movie nights, services, dancing, drumming circles, games. Consider leading an activity yourself if no activity is scheduled.

Read; Play; Sing – 2:45 pm until 8 pm weekdays – hours available all day Saturday and Sunday. You choose the best time for you and if a group or one to one activity suits your schedule and interest. Offer you special brand of companionship on the evenings and weekends – share your interests, favorite games and music and conversation or help our children explore their leisure time favorites. Introduce your favorite activity or have our children lead you to their favorites.

For more information about any of these activities call Intern & Volunteer Services and contact Jeannette Nieder, Manager at 603-547-3311, ext 1626 , Jeannette.Nieder@crotchedmountain.org or Kevin Harte, Director, at 547-3311, x 1625, Kevin.Harte@crotchedmountain.org.
