Therapeutic Recreation

Protocol:
Community Awareness
Purpose:
To become more familiar with the community and the resources needed to access the community
Facilitator:
CTRS
Duration:

1-2 units (on unit sessions)
6+ units (off unit experience)

Varies

Goals:

  1. To identify various resources needed to access the community. (internet, phone, etc)
  2. To navigate safely around the community. (Caution crossing streets, curb cuts, traffic, etc)
  3. To gain awareness of money management skills.
  4. To increase socialization peer interaction skills.
  5. To identify and pursue personal and group leisure interests.

Participation Requirements:

  1. Resident of CMRC
  2. Resident will be in adequate health and stable emotional condition on the day of community based experience.

Discharge Criteria:

  1. Discharge for CMRC

Precautions:

  1. Attendance is not permitted for those presenting with contagious/infectious disease.
