Special Olympics Motor Activities
Training Program (MAT-P)
Purpose:
To teach motor and basic sport
skills To improve social, emotional, cognitive, and
physical abilities through participation in MAT-P.

4 x1 hour practices; Challenge Day

Goals:
1.Participant
will increase gross and fine motor function.
2.Participant
will demonstrate skills in the following through
participation in stations of each area:
a.Dexterity
b.Mobility
c.Striking
d.Kicking
3.Participants
will increase self esteem and self confidence through
participation
4.Participants will increase ability to follow
directions
5.Participants will demonstrate positive social skill
and positive sportsmanship
6.Participants will improve sports skills without having
limiting structure of strict rules
Participation
Requirements:
Participation is limited to
those athletes with a desire or need to work on
basic sports skills or those not ready for official
Special Olympics sports
Discharge
Criteria:
Completion of MAT-P Program
Discharge for CMRC
Individual does not meet
participation requirements.
Precautions:
Attendance is not permitted
for those presenting with contagious/infectious
disease.
Individual’s with health
conditions that may pose a significant risk through
participation
