Everyone who attended the Crotched Mountain
Harvest Dinner last September agreed that the highlight of the evening
was the dance performance by one of our students, Caitlin, with her
instructor, Addy. Michael Havey of Yasvin Design of Hancock, NH who
attended the Dinner and was so inspired he later attended one of their
rehearsals and created a video using still photography, music and Addy's
thoughts about being Caitlin's dance instructor. It is wonderfully
inspiring. Please share this with your friends.

Extracurricular
activities for students with disabilities
At Crotched Mountain School, our students are actively engaged
in organized activities and in exploring personal interests after school
and on weekends. Activities are designed to reinforce skills, meet
sensory needs, build self-esteem and provide social interaction.
Arts
programs stimulate creativity
We offer abundant opportunities for students to explore and express
their creativity through the visual and performing arts. Our school play
and frequent talent shows bring students together in acting, stage
design, costume design and musical experiences. In addition, our Healing
Arts and the artist-in-residence programs enrich
student life through unique and often dynamic experiences such as
drumming, kite-making, photography, videography and sculpture.
Therapeutic recreation actively engages students
With a campus of more than 1,400 acres in the New Hampshire
countryside, Crotched Mountain School offers students
accessible
recreation activities and outdoor learning opportunities
found nowhere else. Like the arts, physical activities at any ability
level promote confidence and personal growth. Through therapeutic
recreation, students can challenge and enjoy themselves in a safe and
accessible environment by participating in activities such as:
Community-based activities create an enriching experience
Participating in the greater community is an
important part of the experience at Crotched Mountain School. Through
community interaction, students forge friendships, build communication
and life skills, and reinforce the goals of their individual education
plan. A sample of the community-based activities available to students
includes:
Participating in religious services
Crotched Mountain School offers students the opportunity to
participate in religious services of different faiths and traditions.
Students can attend services held on our campus as well as at local
churches. In addition, we support students as they prepare for religious
milestones, such as bar and bat mitzvahs, by integrating these studies
into their school and homework activities, when appropriate.
