SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM The mission of the SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM is to provide evaluation, education, and consultation services on behalf of children and adolescents with special needs in order to assist school teams and families in preparing students for their adult lives. THE SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (SPP) began in August, 1995. SPP provides support to school professionals responsible for services to students with disabilities that include neurological, genetic, and behavioral conditions. This includes children with sensory impairments (blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing or deafblind). The SPP team conducts evaluations in the child’s school, and provides community-based education and training to the child’s school staff. Families are included in the evaluation, as well as during feedback and training sessions. We use an interdisciplinary approach that can include any or all of our services as needed. Audiology Educational audiological evaluations on-site; hearing evaluations available at the Outreach Clinic at Crotched Mountain. Occupational Therapy Evaluations include standardized assessments and/or observations of fine motor skills, visual motor and perceptual motor abilities, sensory integration and activities of daily living. Physical Therapy Standardized evaluations as well as clinical observations include an assessment of both gross motor ability and functional mobility (gait and/or wheelchair). These consist of assessing muscle strength, tone, range of motion, posture and balance as they relate to ability to complete or participate in daily functional skills. Psychology Services Cognitive, adaptive behavior and social/emotional evaluations; Functional behavior assessments and behavioral consultation; assessments completed using standardized instruments (with or without adaptive techniques), direct observations and interviews with school personnel and parents. Sensory Impairments/Vision (NH Vision/Hearing Network) Assessments include deafblind, blind and visually handicapped students as well as those who have additional disabilities. This may include use of formal and informal instruments, observations and interviews. Sensory Integration Therapy Involves coordinating sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. Evaluation and treatment provided by an Occupational Therapist certified to administer the Sensory Integration Praxis Test (SIPT). Special Education Evaluation and interpretation of functional life and academic skills; assistance to school teams in administering formal academic instruments; assistance in developing and implementing individualized educational programs. Speech-Language Pathology Evaluation of speech, language and communication skills; assistance to school teams in completing their own evaluations and interpreting collected results; Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) evaluation; assistance in developing the IEP goals and objectives; daily program and materials development; AAC system design and implementation and direct therapy when integrated with local school-based programming.
